the once looked down upon
Cult
or Visionaries
We have all felt the lure to become a prepper. It just makes sense; things can go to hell in a basket overnight, or by missing just a few meals, the fabric of society can be torn apart. The lure and the logic have always been there, but many of us have recently stepped in and taken it seriously. What has changed? Certainly, we have learned in the past few years that many forms of government have fallen short when it comes to protecting their citizens. Whether it is social uncertainty or simply recognizing what protecting oneself and family really means, what was once a passing fancy has now become, and justifiably so, an obsession. We don’t care anymore what our neighbors think or if we fit into social norms. One doesn’t have to be in the Canadian or Alaskan wilderness to understand thinking ahead and thinking things well through is what binds all preppers from urban to wilderness together.
Worst
case scenarios
Frankly, we are all dead in the worst-case scenario, but that isn’t what we mean when we say “hope for the best and plan for the worst.” What we really mean is to plan for survivable scenarios. Lose of power from storms or floods, depending on the severity, and roads may be impassible for days if not weeks. These are the most likely cases you will face and, at least to some extent, the easiest to prepare for. In these cases, you will need the basics of food, water, and medications. This blog is not going to going to study in depth the vast range of potential survival scenarios. We not only don’t have time for this but lack the expertise needed to cover all of these possibilities. The bottom line here is that we all need to be preppers to some degree or another. Not all of us will, or even can be, elite or hard-core preppers, but we can at least be prepared for a moderate breakdown in services, say for a week or two.

Prepping is not a task but a journey. It takes a lot of work but lucky for us there are a lot of great sources such as The Prepper Journal
What happens when the grid go down.
