Bludgeons™
bluntly
speaking Bludgeons are a new class of points
Metal blunt archery points have been used for centuries. Standardized metal blunt points, used for hunting small game, likely date to the 19th or early 20th century. These modern metal blunts were developed to hunt birds and small game such as squirrels using flu-flu arrows. The idea was that blunt-tipped arrows would be less likely to stick in tree trunks or limbs. Combine this non-stick point with flu-flu fletching, which dramatically restricts arrows’ travel, and you have a pretty good solution for tree-born targets. These blunts worked pretty well for this purpose, but for ground targets, they had a nasty habit of snaking under the grass, making them virtually impossible to see. This snaking effect accounts for many lost hours trying to find them. Saunders introduced Bludgeon blunt arrow points circa the 1960s to solve these problems and to generate a cleaner kill. Made in the USA.
variety
of weight, size, and type
Bludgeon arrow points come in multiple weights for screw-in and slip-over styles, and the most popular ones are also available in new translucent colors. The Bludgeon’s special energy-transference head packs a wallop and reduces shaft breakage when the arrow hits a hard object. The Bludeon’s wide tip also helps eliminate the shaft from snaking under grass.
game-on
new vistas of whakable fun
Over the years, Bludgeon blunt arrow points use has grown from field plinking and hunting to action targets. The new Saco™ dueling target was designed for lightweight bows and arrows like those used in national school programs, but by tipping your arrows with our smooth Bludgeon, archers can shoot up to a 70-lb bow at the Saco dueling target.
