first
modern archery points

The first points to become available In the first years of modern archery were the glue on points. The only type of arrow shafts were wood. Easton introduced its first aluminum arrow in 1939, and it was then that the necessity for inserts and screw-in points became an issue.   Later, after aluminum, there were no screw-in points. The major innovation was mass-producing points by turning them on automatic screw machines. A history of these machines can be found here. The date of these first machined glue-on tips is unknown, but it is safe to say that by the 1940s, they were well-established.
