history
of the plastic ventilated arm guard

In 1957, although the plastic industry was still in its infancy, Saunders was building its plastic injection molding facility. This allowed us to introduce our first plastic ventilated arm guard circa 1966. This innovation was a significant departure from traditional materials like leather. It was a lightweight, durable, and breathable alternative that improved comfort during extended use and prevented moisture absorption and odors, a common issue with leather armguards. Over the years, Saunders has continued to refine this design by, for example, making it easier to attach when wearing gloves.
